welcome

“The post-theological era is one in which theology is released from the academic prison to which it had been banished. It is a time when theology returns to the context in which it rightly belongs: the community of faith, the church.” || Stanley J. Grenz, Renewing the Center: Evangelical theology in a post-theological era

VoxTheology is a space for the Vox Dei Community (and beyond) to do theology. These conversations are not held with the expectation of answering questions, enlightening our minds, nor prescribing a particular theology. They will however deconstruct what you thought you knew, make you unsure of many things, and allow you the space to think and reflect on God in a creative, communal and missional context. In a word (or eleven), these conversations will release the inner theologian that has been suppressed.

Here are the ways to enter the VoxTheology conversation:

  • midrash: an ancient Jewish interpretation of Scripture, or rather engagement with Scripture; there is no agenda to these gatherings, except for asking questions of God, ourselves and others. we will engage with a particular text each gathering from Scripture, a thought provoking book, film, art or music.
  • novitiate: resources and guides for personal and communal learning in the common practices of the Vox Dei Community: rhythmic living, formational living and missional living.
  • blog: the blog will highlight any upcoming gatherings and conversations as well as a being a space to offer theological meditations and what not.
  • bookshelf: here you will find a smattering of resources that are hopefully polyphonic; organized around our conversations.

Peace and blessings!russian icon1.1-Panorama

text of the week

"The restoration of the church will surely come from a new kind of monasticism, which will have nothing in common with the old but a life of uncompromising adherence to the Sermon on the Mount in imitation of Christ. I believe the time has come to rally people together for this." || Dietrich Bonhoeffer
